Director of Estimating

Description:

Sano-Rubin Construction Services, LLC is growing, and wants you to join our team of professionals as our new Director of Estimating. 

Responsibilities:

This position is a senior management role responsible for the oversight and management of multiple personnel and construction projects. The Director of Estimating will directly manage assigned staff in Estimating and select Project Managers. The position will oversee Preconstruction services, including Estimating. In this role, the Director of Estimating will act as a key customer liaison.

Essential Functions of Position

  • Establish and maintain excellent customer relations with company clients. Act as primary liaison to client leadership, ensuring the highest quality output and customer satisfaction.
  • Supervise Estimators and In-charge staff assigned to project estimates. Responsibilities include hiring, training, directing work, appraising performance, and ensuring an atmosphere of teamwork.
  • Oversee and approve all estimates prepared for Lump Sum bids and negotiated work (Conceptual, Schematic, Design Development and Guaranteed Maximum Price) in conjunction with VP of Preconstruction and President.
  • Ensure effective planning, estimating, procurement, execution and support of all assigned construction projects. Monitor progress of projects, ensuring quality output and timely results consistent with corporate policies, expectations and goals.
  • Oversee all aspects from pre-construction services to close-out and follow-up. Ensure all budgets, timelines, project plans, and profitability goals are met. Communicate and implement changes where necessary.
  • Assist in marketing the company’s services, developing new business and procuring new work. Participate in trade associations and industry groups, representing company interests and apprising executive management of opportunities.
  • Assist President in strategic and corporate planning.
  • Other duties and responsibilities may be assigned from time to time as business needs require.
Qualifications:

To be considered for this position you must have:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business or Construction Management, or a related field. Advanced degree and/or professional certification highly desirable.
  • Minimum 15 years experience in construction management, project management, or closely related activity.
  • Demonstrated experience leading all levels of staff, including Managers.
  • Proficiency in project management technology, including Microsoft Office Suite (especially Project, Excel and Word), electronic mail, and familiarity with modern construction industry systems (e.g. Prolog, Timberline Estimating, Primavera SureTrack).
  • Exceptional presentation skills and strong written and interpersonal communication skills. Ability to negotiate, resolve conflict, and deal effectively with all levels of staff in a professional and respectful manner, with a focus on customer service.
  • Ability to maintain the highest level of confidentiality of Company and client information. 
Physical Requirements:
  • Flexibility in work schedule – overtime and weekend work may be required.
  • Ability to travel within Company’s geographic market to review construction sites.
  • Ability to physically traverse construction sites and buildings under construction.
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities.
  • Ability to be seated and use computer equipment for several hours per day.
